It was not until 1980 that the British Shorthair was officially recognized and developed by the International Cat Breed Association in many countries to this day.

This is a cat who does not like the noise, likes to play with children, and likes to follow the owner, and often takes advantage of sitting on the lap of family members master. However, in times of interest, this cat will play cat and mouse with its shadow, or with some household objects. I rarely see British short-haired cats jumping on bookshelves, refrigerators, televisions or things on high places. This cat’s food should not be high in fat, as it is easily overweight. Bathing may or may not be okay, however, if you prefer to bathe a British Shorthair, you should bathe it as soon as it is small, so it can get used to it.
